Why is photoshop displaying images too bright?

How do you get images to look like they're made up of tiny squares/dots in photoshop?

• I've been perusing the internet on some music blog sites and I've noticed that a bunch of them have images or banners on there site where the images look like they have tiny dots or squares in them. I was wondering if anybody knows what this is and if it's a certain effect in photoshop or something.   What you are looking at is a low-resolution file that has been blown up in Photoshop using the "draft" setting in the "image size" menu. It could also be the "Sharpen" settings under the "Filter" pull down menu. Take an image and under the "image" pull-down menu, release on "image size". In the menu click on the "Resample Image" box and increase the size of your file settings. Then, BEFORE you click "OK", click on the "auto" option and change the resample setting to "draft". This will pixelate your file and give you the results you're seeing. These images were files that were blown up with the anti-aliasing turned off. There use to be a setting in Photoshop for this, but no one wanted anti-aliasing turned off before. So now, you have to use the draft settings. If that doesn't work, use the sharpen filter, as I said before. "Sharpen" is an option under the "Filter" pull-down menu. Select the "Sharpen Edges" option and play with the settings until you get the desired effect. Good luck. --------------- Edit: On second thought, try the sharpen tool first.
