How do I stream my webcam on the internet?

Stream webcam over internet to my PC only?

  • How can I set it up so that a remote webcam streams only to my computer (over the internet), directly, without using a browser or website? I guess the better question is, say I bought a basic Logitech webcam, installed it on the remote PC. Is there software that will stream that webcam over the internet? Via IP and port? With security (username and password)? So I can then... On my computer, is there software that can connect to that stream by using the IP address and port number? Preferably with security (username and password)? So I log on to my computer, open the program, punch in the IP and port number, (enter username and password if necessary) and I am then watching the stream?

    I'm not sure if this will do what you want, but Yahoo Messenger has a webcam facitity that allows both continuous streaming and user adjustable timed image transmission PC to PC over the internet (via Yahoo.com). You can set up a single user profile on each machine and it will start automatically with the PC. I haven't used Messenger for this purpose, so it's just a suggestion for you.
