How do I find an old newspaper article for free?

How to find an old newspaper article?

  • I have been told information about a certain person, by numerous people who do not know eachother, ranging from family to friends. The person in question was/is a "friend", but I have heard he committed a serious crime some time ago. If this is true, I would not want further association with the "friend" in question. The crime, I am told, happened in Liverpool but I do not have an exact year, could be in the 90s or early 2000's. It was in the paper, but I can't find it in online newspaper archives. The crime in question was a rape, it was more than likely in the Echo. How do I find the article? I would like to find it tonight as my public libraries are now closed.

  • Answer:

You want to know what someone did, within a 15 year timeframe, possibly in Liverpool? If you are wise, you will play safe. If you are at risk, (ie they live with you, or are in contact with your children), you may get info from the police. If you have had the same info from various unrelated sources, why dont you beleive them? If you know he was in prison, surely you must have some doubts. Old newspaper articles may be available, but not necessarily on the internet. They may be in libraries, but not digitally. and hard to find, especially when you dont have a date. You need to play safe, assume your info is right until such a time as it is clear whether it is accurate on not.
