Can anyone of u help in my pay pal account?

Santander blocked my account because I don't have a photo ID - HELP?

  • On Saturday, i did internet banking and got stuck a bit as this was the first time in a long time I used internet banking, so I phoned the customer service team to help but i forgot my internet banking telephone number used to set up the internet banking so I gave them my present one. The customer service person did not tell me that this is not correct instead he made me believe the account is all sorted and the transfer will go through on the Monday seeing I dealt with him over the phone, anyways did not think anything of it. On the Tuesday, I went to the ATM to make a withdrawal only to find out the prompts said this card is invalid and then I tried 2 more ATMs including Santander in case it was the machine. I went inside the bank to ask them what is going as I only want to make a withdrawal of £50. they asked for passport or drivers, unfortunately, I have neither because I do not drive and my Passport is with the Home Office. They asked me some security questions which I answered but could not remember the original mobile I used as it was set up when they were still Abbey National. She returned to say that she is unable to assist without a passport/drivers license. I thought showing them my work ID, my work mobile with my name in the emails would help including another bank card but the customer adviser was still not interested. Then I informed them that I can do is request for my solicitor to come into the bank (bearing in mind this will cost me legal fees) to confirm my identity as she has copies on record. They would not have it nor could they give me an alternative assistance/solution. I was furious as it is my savings and I can tell them everything going on in my account but they would not have it. the adviser informed me I can speak to someone else bearing in mind its the same person that told her what to say to me and how to deal with me which means I would be told the same thing and I found this action demeaning. there customer service made me feel as if I was a criminal. I can understand the reason for the security but if one is willing to have a solicitor come in then surely that should be proof enough. I am very sad and stressed as I need this account to pay rent and other things. I phoned the financial ombudsman to advise and they said I should lodge a complaint to Santander and if I am not happy with the outcome they will be the second stage. the lady on the phone was so helpful and she could hear my anxiety and said that she can do it on my behalf and send me the form to post to them. Santander will take upto 8 weeks before they respond. Is there anyone else that can advise me with a quicker solution as I need my savings to pay rent and bills pls HELP

  • Answer:

No picture ID, and you can't answer the security questions?? Have a solicitor come in?? - big deal. My best friend can come in and say he's a solicitor. An ID with a picture is standard stuff. Either go get your passport, or go to the drivers license bureau, and get an identity ID. They also provide these for those that don't drive. Every bank requires identification to withdraw money. That means some sort of govt ID - either drivers license or passport.

Santander are rather well known for their total and utter incompetence ... I suggest you open a new account with anotehr Bank NOW (it's likley to be quicker ..) ... Santander is a Spanish Bank & if you think it's bad now just wait until Euro 'unwinds' (and their Greek loans go down the pan) when they will have a few BILLION other things to worry about than cusotmers (especially UK ones ) ...
