Have you been demoted from your position at your current job?

Ladies: How quickly would you leave your man if he lost his job?

  • And be HONEST! Whether he was laid off or something happened at his job that was beyond his control and it resulted in his termination or his position at his workplace was demoted and his paycheck was minimalized. SInce women are supposedly more into status and money, how long would it be before you packed up and moved out or sent him packing since he could no longer be supportive, provide protection or bring in that nice paycheck he used to?

  • Answer:

Faster than it takes for her to close the door on her way out. Women HIGHLY value the provider ability in men. Look at how often the term "financially sound" or "fiscally secure" is mentioned by women as a quality they seek. This is often higher than his looks or personality. Oh, I'll even give out their standard comeback "Well, I'd be happy to support him while he is actively looking for a job..." Yeah, right. They NEVER say, "Well, he has worked very hard and it is fine that he stays home to take care of the house/kids while I work. In a few years when the kids are older, he might re-enter the workforce. But there is no hurry to do so."

This has happened to my husband. I simply understood it as a temporary situation and paid all the bills myself. It wasn't his fault that he got laid off, he's an IT specialist, and I knew he'd be on his feet again soon enough. Not once did I lose respect for him for something that was beyond his control. @Neo : I did. I asked my hubby if he'd like to be a househusband and he said, "NO.". Don't blame him, it's a sucky job.

I'd stay as I've done for the past 28 years. You just deal.

I wouldnt - hes the father of my children and im not gonna fall out of love just cos he lost his job. I do understand though that security is important and that a lot of people would seek that security elsewhere if their man was unable to provide but in my situation i wouldnt leave.

The guy I'm seeing was in an accident, where his truck rolled twice, landed on top of him and nearly paralyzed him...actually nearly killed him. He lost his apartment and is now staying with me, and no income coming in. So, I'd say that I did quite the opposite. It isn't always about money, it's more about being responsible financially, accepting help when it's offered, and not being a complete jerk when someone is doing for you. I'm not saying I like this situation, of course, I'd rather he be working... I'm just saying that I live within my means, well within my means and can accommodate for the unexpected if necessary.

I wouldn't, and I actually didn't when it happened to my man. By the way, I never took money from nobody and never will, for no reason whatsoever: I have my own job and sustain myself 100%.

I would give it some time for him to find another work place get settled & leave the past behind (: because if you leave I'm pretty sure the way ppl are these days there gunna ask questions & he can only say cuz I lost my jo or whatever the case may be & then u might get put out there as a gold digger which I'm pretty sure your not <3 but I know women always want that support from a guy trut me I know I'm 16 from a wealthy family & my ex was just all about $$$$! 24/7 & the that was it so doesn't matter poor, rich living in a box underneath the freeway as long as he makes you happy & treats you right :D I know I'm not a ladie but I've gotten a lot of advice about situations like this hopefully everything works out good for you guys ;D

a year. I think that is fair. and it wouldnt be because he lost his job...but because he wasnt trying to find another one. unless he had to quit because of an accident of which he was still having trouble with getting around ( like a car accident) or something like that. but if he got laid off...and was fine...i would at first understand that these things do happen....but if all he did was lay around for a whole year and not even trying while i'm here paying all the bills and whatnot...then I would kick his @ss to the curb. I dont mind a guy that isnt rich...or anything like that...and I dont care for status...however I don't appreciate not trying.
