How can i create my own blog without getting a weird url/website name?

I really,really,really want to become a blogger and blog about basketball, because it is my passion, my love and my life! Though there is one problem: i cant get on the proffesional sites (havent tried but i just know it) because i am probably too young to get on there (16yrs). Now i was wondering, how could i get my own free blog without having a website name like 123createyourownblog.basketballblog.com? I just want a website name like: www.basketballblog.com , not with anything else in it. Does anybody know a site where i can do that?

A domain (www.yoursite.com) is like piece of land - if you want the most sought after plots (.com, .net etc..) you have to pay for them (although to be fair many are not really that expensive). Having said that, you can get a subdomain like .co.cc for free. but because it is free, you won't get into Google search results because spammers have abused the fact that you can get these 'domains' for free. Once you have purchased a domain, you can apply that domain to a blogger account so that you don't have to use a 'yoursite.blogspot.com' domain. (It's easy to do this once you have the domain you want) I looked on blogger terms of service and can't see anything that says a 16 year-old can't have a blog - try it see what happens..
