Is a DSLR camera good?

What would be a good DSLR camera for me?

• I am currently a senior in highschool about to graduate and all year I have been using the schools photo department 50D camera as my camera to shoot for yearbook and assignments for the advance photo class that i am in. Now that i am graduating i have to return the camera and i need to buy a new one. I have very vague ideas of what i want but i do know what i need and have an idea of what i want. i need help on what would be a good camera for me. This summer i am going to eruope and then going to college which i am certain i will still be shooting. I like shooting basically anything. studio and out door. I want a LIGHT camera. The camera i have now is to heavy to be carrying around europe and college. i would like a DSLR that has automatic settings that i can point and shoot and get a good picture with because at times i can get lazy or there is not enough time for me to do all the settings and shoot a picture(especially when im in euorpe). i would like a good quality camera but it doesnt have to be fancy or amazing like the Mark 2. i know that the lens is more important than the body so i need more help choosing the perfect lens more than a body though i need help choosing that too. sorry this is so long. my budget cannot go any higher than 700. even that is high for my parents to be paying for me. also i really like those tilt shift lens looks that pictures have if any of you can give me info on those lens'. thank you to anyone who reads this extremely long message and thank you to anyone who comments with advice. i need direct answers please
