How can you ask the seller a question on ebay?

What to do if eBay seller refunds because of not receiving and the package arrives?

  • Hi, I ordered a package from eBay it is over the delivery time and it has not yet arrived. I contacted the seller informing them of this and then said they will issue me a refund (I didn't ask for a refund) My question is, do I do if the item does end up arriving? I'd feel guilty using it knowing that I didn't pay for it. Or do I have to return it because I can't afford to pay for return postage?

  • Answer:

    Arrange to repay the seller.

Either give the seller their money back, or ask them to organise getting it returned. Keeping it and the money would be theft. Why are you worrying over something that may never happen? Life has enough problems as it is without you inventing scary stories to give you stress. Chillout. I'm sure they'll take the cash, why woudn't they? After all, they're selling the item.

You either have to return it or give back the money. If you don't, you're stealing.

If the seller sent it recorded or signed for then they can claim for the insurance value of the item via the delivery company. There is always a danger that if you do not return or pay for the item you could be perused after an investigation, especially if they can prove delivery. Honesty is always the best policy, I would suggest you tell the seller it took too long for the item to arrive so you purchased another one (little white lie). Ask what solutions the seller has to offer under these circumstances - basically you need them to tell you what to do with their item, maybe you let them either collect it for free or provide you with the return postage costs.

how much is it going to cost you to post back? if it's that expensive then why didn't the ebay seller have a tracking number with it? you can choose to pay for it and use it, return it to the seller or do nothing, chances are it's been lost in the post and you won't get it if it's taking a long long time. If it didn't turn up within the delivery time, the auction is void. If it turns up later, you need to decide whether you want it. If you do, you tell the seller and he'll issue an eBay invoice and you pay again. If you don't, you tell the seller and he can arrange for it to be collected (or he might not bother and let you keep it).

That happened to me once actually and I contacted the seller and made arrangements and paid them. I could not have used it knowing I had stole it. I got a email from them thanking me for my honesty and I keep it to this day. Hope this helps good luck.
