How can you find rare books at library sales?

• every time I go to a library sale there are a TON of people there and it is really crowded and there are quite a few book dealers there and they seem to know where all the good books are already. So how can a person know which books are worth money and be able to find them. I know one person who takes a scanner with her and she scans a bunch of books. I think that's cheating and honestly I don't know where you can buy one of those things. where? what I do to be honest is I go there looking for books that I like and that I find interesting. I've found several valuable books that way. But not very often. I like unusual stuff so I find a number of good books. But finding a book that is supposedly worth $100 and getting $100 for it are two different things. I honestly don't know what to look for at these sales at all. no idea.

  I used to sell used books on Amazon. The easiest way is to get there as soon as it opens and look for scholarly books. Written by professors for other professors, often on small university presses. These books never make it to paperback and have a first and only printing of 2500 to 10,000 copies.
