What online classes can i take to get into med school?

  • Im 18 im going into the USMC and while im in i want to take some classes online to help me get into med school,i plan on going to college after i leave the USMC also but i want to know if there are online classes where i can earn credits which with make it easier to earn my bachelors after im out then get into med school.

    Do not take any of your med school pre-reqs online, except for perhaps the math and English. But leave all the science classes for once you get to an in-person college. Otherwise, you can take classes online, but make absolutely sure they are from a reputable, well ranked college. Do not go to any for-profit/proprietary/as seen on tv school, because med schools really do not respect them. A public university or community college back in your home state could work well. Many offer online classes now.

You are likely to have to take the prerequisites for medical school on a campus because you have to take science lab classes. Also, many medical schools do not accept coursework taken via distance education. And some US universities do not accept distance education courses (even their own) as credit towards a degree unless you get the permission BEFORE you take the class. So be sure to check with both the medical schools you might like to attend and the universities you'd like to attend for your bachelor's degree. You might be able to take college level math via distance education. Some medical schools require 1 or two semesters of calculus. You might also be able to complete some of the general education requirements for your bachelor's degree (e.g. English composition).
