Law enforcement careers?

  • I'm in college, I had lost my sense of direction the past year and I was really depressed for not knowing my goal yet at the age of 21 already. I messed up school pretty bad this year. Lost I was, I was also depressed for I have not many friends that I could talk to, and my family are in PA while I am alone in NY for family reasons, and basically no one I could talk to. But I am trying to redefine my goal which I think I want to help people in the field of law enforcement and such. either the job is sitting behind the desk or not I'd like to hear some of the possibilities. I would just like to get some information on careers in this field. such as the titles of some of these jobs, what degree or major I should take, how physically or mentally fit should you be and even some of these requirements such as GPA. also I got herpes simplex 1 n 2 IGG. if there are wavers or before disqualification please do make a note. I am desperate to know my purpose and do not want to waste any more of my life thinking, regretting. I am seeking help. Please state occupation or how you obtained knowledge of the information you are providing. Sincerely thank you for any help.

There are many law enforcement officer jobs. You could look into federal, state, or local. Some job titles include special agent, criminal investigator, detective, police officer, constable, deputy, game warden, and ranger. Getting law enforcement officer jobs can be very competitive. It is good that you are in college. Getting a college degree is one of the best things that you can do if you want to become a law enforcement officer. Get at least a 4 year degree from an accredited school. Get the highest grade point average that you can. Many people that want to become law enforcement officers choose criminal justice as a major, but that is not necessary. Choose a major that interests you. Choose a major that is marketable. Choose a major that could be useful for police work. There are many good majors for law enforcement officers and people that want to become law enforcement officers. Accounting, communications, computer science, a foreign language, and psychology are some examples. Consider participating in a couple extra curricular activities such as student government, criminal justice club, or sports. Consider trying to get an internship with a law enforcement agency. Consider doing some regular volunteer work. Don't do anything illegal. Maintain a good reputation. Do whatever else you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. For example, keep a good driving record, don't get bad credit, improve all of your communication skills as much as possible, practice to improve your observation and memory skills, and become as physically fit as you can.
