How can I manually block websites?

How can i block myself from going to websites?

  • I am pretty much addicted to anything internet. My grades are suffering because of it. Is there some program i can download that will block me from going to websites i tell it to block such as facebook, reddit, stumbleupon, 9gag, etc?

    For blocking certain websites, you can edit the Hosts File, and it goes this way 1. Open MyComputer 2. Browse C: (or your Operating system drive) 3. Browse Windows –>System32–>drivers–>etc So the Location will be C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc In the etc folder look for the file hosts 4. Open this file hosts with notepad. 5. At the bottom of the file, add the line as shown below: 127.0.0.1 www.xxx.com 127.0.0.1 www.xxx.com ... 7. Save the file. 8. reboot your computer. Note: In this way add any number of sites you want, however you will need to prefix it with "127.0.0.1". Hi ... To be honest even if you download a software to block those sites, you will be tempted to visit them again. Best thing is your will power. try by all means not to visit them ... That's it ! Good luck !

I am afraid that you are not the only one suffering from this affliction. If you ind that your grades are suffering, then there is only one way. Talk to your parents frankly about it and asked that the internet connection be taken down when you are aound. You have to find a way to get to the internet. You must have heard of net nannies. But I am not sure that they will work. As you seem to have fair insight into yor problems, share it - getting your parents involved is the best way forwards. There used to be a saying "A problem shared is a problem halved"
