Can girls make the first move?

• There's a guy that is friends with most of my guy friends that I'm really drawn to. As much as I would love to go up to him and start talking to him like many guys have done with me, I feel that socially it is looked down upon for girls to make the first move. I feel like that's unfair and that I have gone out with guys that I didn't like just to give them a chance to impress me and that I can't have that chance. What should I do?

  Personally, I think it's hot when a girl is confident enough to approach me, mainly because I'm an introvert and not very good at making new friends, let alone meeting girls. The social stigma does exist, but ultimately, the decision in front of you is whether it's more important to let that social stigma rule your life or to take charge of your life by doing what you want. I say, if you want to chat him up and ask him out, go for it; social stigma be damned. The worst that could happen is either a) he's already seeing someone (which is always a risk with dating) or b) he's put off by the fact that you made the first move. But consider, if he's put off by girls who make the first move, would you really want to be with him? Would you really want to be with a guy who's intimidated by women who speak their minds and pursue what they want?
