Can you watch French TV channels in America?

How can I watch freeview or DVD channels or built in channels in a TV in my other room?

  • Ok I don't have an ariel in my room, but in another room which is my Brother's, he has Sky box and an ariel connected to a dish outside...What do I need to do to watch TV in my room? all I have is an normal TV...We bought a filter where the ariel connects to my Brother's Sky box in another room but I have to watch the same stuff he does and I dont have a remote or a sky box.# So if I want to use a free box or a sky box or a TV with built in channels then what do I do? what do I need? if I get an ariel where do I connect it? how do I connect it? (UK)

    DVD Channels? No such thing; only a DVD recorder/player! Freeview is reception from a terrestrial transmitter; a different system to satellite services. Satellite TV does not use an aerial; the connecting cable takes the satellite signal from the dish to the TV/digibox. At the end of the arm on the dish is an "LNB". You can get this replaced with a dual or quad one (Sky+ and HD subscribers use 2 LNB's; you can see these fitted on many Sky dishes), then run a separate cable to your own digibox independently of your brother's system. You either need a Freeview box with an aerial on the roof or A Freesat box and another dish on the wall outside. There aren't any short cuts.

You need to call a sparkie, get him to run a single lead from your sky digital dish into the desired room (you can do this yourself) connect it so a freesat box which you can pick up for around £30-£50 connect it to your tv.
