Can you have two hosts for one domain name?
-
Take for example if you are from Ireland and your website is to be world accessible, and the users may upload things like photos. Now to make sure the connection to the site is always fast and loads quickly also, would it be possible to have two hosts for the one domain name or is this not feasible?

Answer:
Multiple hosts is not feasible. What you need is one host and multiple servers that can share the load when things get really busy. However this take some knowledge and expense to set up. You could start by talking to your hosting provider. They always like to find ways to charge you more money.

Yes, you can have multiple hosts located near your customers. This is what worldwide accessible sites like Google do (although they host themselves). You need to be able to control the DNS so that when a request for www.example.com arrives from the USA an IP address in the USA is returned, when a request arrives from Europe a European host is returned. From there on in all you need from your hosts is dedicated IP addresses for your servers. When you set up a cloud, for example using Windows Azure, the geographical locations of your severs are one of the things you configure.

You cannot, the reason is it's the rule that one host per domain name. You can always ask for upgrade from your hosting service if you want your site to load faster.

yes it's possible you can mask domain names with your main domain name. so you could have picturebook.com and when someone uploads a file .. they get redirected to: proxy.com that has picturebook.com/upload-page.html covering it's name If you register for a free .co.cc domain ( http://co.cc/ ) you can get clicks on the .co.cc domain re-directed to your site and have it mask your sites real name. I haven't got a clue how it's done though

You could always get two hosts but yes, really not feasible. As for hosting recommendation, I always go with http://www.MostExpensiveDomainRegistration.com Good luck!

Hostgator gets good feedback. You could always get your users to upload their photos to flickr or another photo sharing site and just post the link on your site.
