What do blue tongued skinks eat and how often?

Are blue-tongued skinks or argentine b&w tegus more docile?

  • I like them both, but want to know which one tends to be more docile and good with humans. I have heard you can potty train tegus? has anyone had any experience with potty training either? I would like them to be able to go around my house, but have a large enclosure obviously with the light bulbs and everything. Which one of them would need a larger enclosure? If I had a cat would they try to eat it? And how much does each of them eat? Will it cost me an arm and a leg to feed either of them per month? I have owned a bearded dragon and a uromastyx so I do have experience. Thanks.

  • Answer:

The skink is probably easier to tame, but it is too small to let loose in the house for long periods of time. They probably need about the same size cage and it would depend on how aggressive your cat is as to whether he would try to be aggressive with the lizard. The amount of food will also depend on the size and how fat you want them to get. An arm and a leg? Doubt it, but if you're buying mice from a pet store it can get expensive.
