How does an Australian high school student apply for University in the UK?

I am a UK citizen but I have completed high school in Australia (more specifically in Queensland so I have obtained an OP) but I wish to continue my education at university in the UK. I was just wondering if anybody who has been in my situation before can tell me what I can do to meet the requirements. As I did not complete either GCSE's or A levels, it is hard to figure out if I have the right grades to be accepted into a course. I have phoned multiple universities about the equivalence of my qualifications as well as UCAS, but they all pointed me towards a company called NARIC. This company will provide documents that explain what your qualification is worth, however, it can not give you a complete equivalent. For example, although I have been told that my OP equates to half an A level (which I think is ridiculous anyway), they can not tell me what my individual subject scores are in A level terms. Therefore I am unable to tell if my grades are acceptable for any university courses. In all honesty I fell kind of stitched up for doing my schooling in Australia because it is only worth half of what I would have had in England. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have looked basically everywhere and even the people in charge of all this sort of junk can not give me a straight answer and tell me to try speaking to the people who just referred me to them.
