What should i do for the video card to be detected?

New Graphics Card not being detected/Primary Video Adapter in BIOS?

  • Hey, I have an dell Inspiron 530 and I recently got a Nvidia PNY Geforce gt 220 as an upgrade to my intergrated graphics chipset card. I put it in and disable the intergrated one in the device manager but when I go to install the drivers for the new one, it says. 'Setup cannot be complete because there is no compatible graphics hardware.' I've read online, and it says to set the primary video adapter in BIOS to pci-e but I've looked and I don't have a primary video adapter in my BIOS. also when I put the monitor plug in the graphics card, the monitor doesn't come on but I think that is related to the above.

Hi, Are you sure you have the correct card for that PC? I believe that you have this :- Expansion Slots Open PCI Express X16 Slots 0 This is what you need but don't appear to have. Number of PCI slots 2 Open PCI Express X1 Slots 1 Number of PCI-Express Slots 2 Slots 2 Now if my research is correct that card requires :- PCI Express® or PCI Express 2.0-compliant motherboard with one x16 graphics slot Which you do not appear to have? Correct me if I am wrong please. Also you have a 300 watt power supply and need a minimum of a 400 watt or more for that card. Arnak
