Using piaget's theory of cognitive development what activities would you give three kids ages 3, 8 and 13?

• Answer:

  Age 3; building blocks like legos, coloring or painting, or paint. I'd make them use a color, ask which is their favorite, then mix it with it another color and watch their response. I'd also see if they know their colors, if not, then id teach them slowly by using that word of that color often until they can recognize it themselves and keep doing that. Kids this age need to be kept busy, if you keep them busy, time will pass and they will have so much fun, they will not have anything negative to say about you to their parents because trust me- they will ask. Age 8; I'd ask them about what they are learning in school, reading. math, ask them if they need help with their homework and if they have something they are stuck on at school or ask them what kind of books they like. I'd also have board games ready for them, stragedy games, mental building, etc. Age 13; I'd ask these ones about their life, how they are doing and same as 8 year old. I'd ask if they need help with homework. Ask them about their interests, hobbies, etc. And build a relationship with them because kids this age are not apt to be open and talk. They have more barriers than younger kids so I'd try to get in first before trying to "boss them around." Be as easy going as I can at the same time, be authorative but gently.
