Is it natural to have an airy voice at 16?

I have not broken my voice? 16 years old?

  • Hello. I'm already 16 years old but I have not broken my voice? When I was 12, the nurse said that my puberty stage was 4. I have developed in other areas but why have I not broken my voice? People have made fun of me because I have a rather high-pitched voice. My larnyx is visible since two years ago. I am worried because my friends have broken their voices and I have not. Is it normal? I tend to be afraid of speaking to other people as they might think I sound like a girl. Thanks!

    Well I can't imagine the stress it must cause you at school, and I know it's easier said then done but just be confident about yourself, and speak in a low tone. Speaking in a low tone and speaking quietly will make your high pitch less noticeable. Then before you know it, your voice will literately change overnight. You are at the stage where you are finalizing your major parts of your growth, and anything after 18+ will be shaping you into an adult, so you will get your voice drop before then. Also you may want to try speaking into a mic on the computer or camera and seeing how high pitched you really are. Maybe you aren't as high pitched as you think, and if you are, you can practice your low tone and quiet speaking. I hope this helps!

Firstly I'll be honest. I laughed for 15 straight minutes. Secondly, don't worry. Everyone's puberty is different. My primary school friend who was a sicko, flashed his penis to us when we were just 10. It was extremely hairy. You know if you really want to you can change the sound of your voice it normally takes about a year. But its like when people talk in accents if they do it enough there vocal cords change over time to fit the tone
