Why is the United Nations important to the Filipinos?

Why do conservatives always say that funding the United Nations is a worthless cause? What is their problem?

• The United Nations promotes peace and unity among all nations! Unfortunately, most of these nations have very little cash to their names and they rely on rich countries, like the United States, to fund and sponsor the organization. The UN promotes equality and is against racism of all forms. Could this be the reason conservatives oppose everything the United Nations stands for? Why do they think the United States should make its own decisions without first petitioning the worldwide consortium for permission first?

  To my understanding, the United Nations is better off in theory than it is in practice. The reason that people think that USA should make their own decisions without world permission is because of the simple fact that all nations are, at the end of the day, governed by their own people and own policies and beliefs. There is no possible way that anything productive can be done with "worldwide permission," as just the mere sound of that incites the vision of a LONG and SLOW process in which the action in question would no longer be relevant in the case that worldwide permission is attained, due to the process. Also, the UN is, since it's very nice sounding theoretically, not quite so effective when it comes to doing much of anything that makes a forceful, impounding difference when needed. They can ask for things to happen involving other countries and such, but they have no way of being able to effectively enforce these commands so to speak. Now I don't consider myself conservative nor liberal, but I agree that while the UN promotes good things (and should continue to do so,) it is not as effective as an actual committee. In other words, you can't police the world when the world has their own police.
