Why do my subs make a buzzing sound?

Why does the A-10 warthog make that buzzing sound?

  • after a gun run, why does the A-10 warthog make that buzzing sound, very reminiscent of that alien in war of the worlds. Is it the sound of the engine or the gun or is it to psyche the targets out since they probably have never heard such a sound? http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d8b_1229167983

  • Answer:

it's the gun system spitting rounds out *the delay in time of ordinance to target upon firing, bullets aren't lasers you know

The buzzing sound you hear is the gun spinning. It will continue to do that after the last round is fired.

It's a gatling gun. IT works by rotating. It keeps on rotating for awhile after ir finish shooting. There is no reason for it to have breaks to stop rotating.

slew

That's the sound of the gun firing very rapidly. The reason why it often seems to come after bullet impact is simply that the speed of sound is slower than the speed of light, so the noise takes longer to reach your ears than the image does to reach your eyes. (Or microphone and lens if we're talking cameras). 3,900 rounds per minute, the current cyclic rate used, sounds like a continuous roar to the human ear. Edit: It's still due to the speed of sound, the aircraft and therefore the gun is farther from the microphone/ear than the impact of the rounds, thus the gun roar takes longer to reach us.

Its the 30mm Gatling gun firing at 4,200 rounds per minute.
