What's a chemical equation?

Algebra 2 Quadratic Equation i have most of the work done i just need a lil boost! (shows whats ive done!)?

  • Okay so i had to seach for a real life parabola picture and then use Geogebra to make a graph. So i had to paste the picture on geogebra and put the point A at the vertex which i got (6, 3.7) then click any other point for point B on the parabola which was (2.94, -1.6) next i had to solve the equation of the parabola by the parabola equation which is y = a(x - h)^2 + k and so.. 6 = h and 3.7 = k and 2.94 = x and -1.6 = y then i solved it .. here is my work -1.6 = a(2.94 -6)^2 + 3.7 -1.6 = a(-33.06) + 3.7 then subtract the 3.7 from the right side to get it to the left getting a by itself.. and get -5.3 = -33.06a then divide to get a .. and get a = .1603 so now i get the equation y = .1603 (x - 6)^2 +3.7 and write that down in geogebra and enter it then it gives you the curve line on ur parabola exactly where the curves are... then i had to find the x and y-intercepts and got (3.44, 8.56) for my x intercept and (0, -16.68) for my y- intercepts .. here is the parapola picture i did.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/77550412@N04/6872019522/in/photostream/lightbox/ then i had to find the vertex, axis of symmetry, domain, and range .. so vertex ~ (6, 3.7), axis of symmetry ~ 6, domain ~ all real numbers, and range ~ all real numbers less than or equal to 3.7 (feel free to correct me if im wrong on any of this, thanks!) Now its the next parts im stuck on .. here is the directions .. 9.Find the discriminant and explain the best method of finding the x-intercepts algebraically. 10.Find the x-intercepts, or solutions to the quadratic equation, algebraically using each of the following methods: factoring, the quadratic formula, and completing the square. If a method cannot be used, explain why. Show all work involved with each method. Question 9 i dont get at all. so if someone could help me with that thanks so much!! and as for Question 10 What would the quadratic equation be?? thats all i need to know for that one then i can solve the factoring, the quadratic formula, and completing the square methods myself, but i really need help with these two questions! 10 pts goes to the best answer! Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

    1st : the square of any real number is never negative....- 1.6 = a ( 9.3636 ) + 3.7.... how did you get 33? 2nd ; Q9 means to work with the quadratic you generated.....roots mean y = 0 , find x in a x² + b x + c the discriminant is b² - 4ac...remember the quadratic formula ? for Q10 ?
