Facebook chat emoticons problem?

I'm having a silly problem with facebook chat and messaging. Smiley faces like these :) show up as the facebook logo... and smiley faces like :p and :/ and :D show up as blank space, nothing there... other people say it's not happening to them.... how do I fix it? Did I hit some setting on accident? I tried fixing the font on my browser and computer but it's still happening. And it's only happening on my laptop not other computers.

It's happening to me as well, and I use chrome. And mine is a Windows 7 as well. Idk what is wrong.

Make sure ur laptop updated with java/adobe Log out ur Facebook and login Or refresh the page

I started having the same issue out of nowhere. Is your laptop a Macbook? Because mine is. Let me know if you fix it because its really bugging me.
