What does a copy editor normally do?

What is being a copy-editor like?

  • I want to become a copy editor, I enjoy reading books and I'm pretty good at correcting errors, and I have a few questions, do copy-editors just edit newspaper articles? Is it stressful, where do you work and how many hours. What is the average salary of a copy editor Thanks!

  • Answer:

As a copy editor, you could work in many places and industries. You could work for magazines (there are countless subjects), advertising agency (wide range of clients), fortune 500 company that produced or needs literature for what it sells (manuals etc). Salary would depend on industry and city, expect to start in $30,000 to $35,000 range? Hours could vary depending on workload. 9 to 5 jobs are hard to come by!

A copy editor is a proofreader. It is not a very creative job. The salary range is much like a secretary's.
