What does it take to open a small business(boutique?

Found a small turtle, what should I do with it? What kind of turtle is it? How to take care of it?

  • My dad was at work and in a truck dock he found this small turtle. He wouldn't have taken it if it was in a good living condition. But there was just a small puddle of water were it was. Also the water was so dirty! And trucks are there all the time so it could have got squished. There also werent any ponds near by. So, my question is what the heck should we do with it? I'd love to keep it but don't most turtles get pretty big? If it stays relatively small and I could figure out how to take care of it, I'll keep it. If not, should I put it by a pond or lake? Or put it in a pond or lake? Or some sort of animal shelter? Ps, as of right now its in an open lid container with water on one side where it could be completly submerged and the other side is "dry land." Theres also a few pieces of lettuce in there along with some small turtle food. Please help! I don't want to hurt it! Thanks :) Here it is.. http://i48.tinypic.com/t0n9df.jpg

  • Answer:

Its a snapping turtle. Just find the nearest pond and put in on the edge of it. He should be able to take care of himself. Good luck!

My dad brought home a turtle and I put it in the bathtub with a little water and dry land. I fed it lettuce and veggies. Eventually we took it to a pond by my house. It was fine when it was in the bathtub. I recomend putting it in a bigger space. Otherwise I think it'll be fine. If your worried ask a pet store worker.

I would put it near a lake or a pond, if you can't find one going to a vet, or petsmart to find out how to take care of it could help. By the way turtles also love carrots and apples. Good Luck

looks like a baby snapper. I'd find a nearby pond or river to put it in. They're incredibly big as adults; common snappers can reach 60 lbs, and require a HUGE tank and a lot of food and filteration. They're awesome animals but a royal pain in the *** to keep. If you do decide to keep it, start out with a 20 gallon long with a decent canister filter and UV lights. Use a pellet, rosy red minnows and various chopped up veggies for the diet. It should outgrow that in a year or less, then I'd work on moving it outdoors using a stock tank--get a 4 or 5' diameter one, toss in a heater, and stock with feeders...

If you had a large tank of a pong you could keep it I would release it in a river a small creek or a lagoon.

You do not want to keep that. As others have said that is a baby snapping turtle. 1st the are carnivores and any animal that gets too close will get bit. 2nd housing requires a kiddy pool at the very least, plus filters and a large supply of fish and rats to feed it. 3rd It would only be a matter of time before it bit you and then you are off to the hospital for a mix of skin grafts and stitches. 4th it might be illegal to keep depending on local laws. Find a big pond or a sizable creek and let it go. it will be better for him and much better for you.

The first thing that popped from my head was baby snapper. As they may be the cutest turtle as a baby, as they grow older they are aggressive, requires a supply of meaty...mice, worms, fish? I know adults can go through an entire can of turtle food in one feeding. A kiddy pool won't be enough, and depending on where you live they could be illegal to own. I mean, you can keep it, but do you have somewhere to store a 20"+ turtle? Otherwise release it to a nearby lake or pond.
