Converting Inches To Pixels?

  • I am looking to convert inches to pixels. How many pixels are equal to an object that is 2" long and 3/4" wide? Thank you!!

  • Answer:

That cant be answered... It depends upon the resolution. For example... if I print that to something that has 100 DPI (100 dots per inch).. you would have 2 x 100 dots (pixels) long. So... your formula for pixes would be: PIXELS = 2 x 3/4 x DPI

Agree with Mike. Pixels don't have a size. They are dots. You can draw a dot with a crayon, or with a fine point pen. It's the crayon or the pen that define the size of a dot, not the dot itself. So you have to know the Dots Per Inch (DPI) of whatever device (typically monitor or printer) you are going to display the image on. Then you can do the math. (And don't assume that your monitor or printer has the same DPI as mine. It probably doesn't).
