What to do about this job situation?
-
I would like some opinions on what to do about my job situation. I am a 21 year old, full time student and looking for a job. I was recently medically discharged from the Navy and I am looking for a job. Before the Navy, I was a shift supervisor at the local grocery store, I only made $9.25 an hour after working there for 5 years. I loved the people there and they loved me. So what I am saying is I left on a good note. When I got discharged from the Navy, I went on a job hunt... I applied EVERYWHERE because I was hoping to find a better paying job. After 3 weeks of searching I was getting no call backs, so I went back to my old job and asked for it back. Reluctantly, they gave it back. Today I received a call from one of the places I was really hoping to get the job. They offered me a part time position (oh by the way, my other job was part time too) with a little better pay and more guaranteed hours. The situation is this: what should I do? Some of you the answer might be easy, take the job with better pay... But I JUST got back to my old job this week and I am too nice of a guy to screw them over like that. The other part of the problem is my new job won't work with my availability for my old job, so I can't duo-job.

Answer:
Do a list, write down the positive sides and the negative sides of the two jobs. That might help your decision.

What is more important???? To have a better job, or stay at a job where you said you worked for years with no pay raise! You cannot go backwards. You have to find a job through your Navy office. Sometimes they can help place you. Go to an agency too. And if the injury you sustained in Navy is on your face or body where people see it, then part time may be your only course. NEVER GO BACK TO THE OLD JOB! MOVE ON, don't let that other opportunity get away from you. Leave old job. Go to Employment Agency and say you are a Veteran, but don't mention the injury. Sometimes that will deter them. Try and be normal. Look in paper for something close to what you did in Navy. Lots of jobs out there. Or try and work both jobs.
