Is California RN license accepted in ALL the states in the US?
-
I live in Illinois, and I just graduated with BSN. I am planning to take the NCLEX and get an RN license in California because of people saying that it will be accepted in ALL the states in the US. Is it true? I've researched it in the National State Board of Nursing, and California is not one of the compact states. Please explain with yes or no.

Answer:
Not true. NO states honor another state's nursing license. There are nursing compact agreements between states which makes it much easier to obtain a license in another state, but you still have to get a license for each state you want to practice in. There is no nationwide recognized nursing license which allows you to practice without applying for that state's license.
