Can i get a accounting job?

How many accounting classes until I can get some sort of bookkeeping job part time?

• I am currently working as a server taking accounting in college. I was wondering if after I finish first year I could already start applying for part bookkeeping positions as I really want to get some experience (and get out of the food industry!) When do students typically start applying for related positions? I know a lot will after year two but what sort of jobs could I apply to with only first year complete?   There is no legal minimum. It 100% depends on what an employer feels comfortable with. Many businesses will not hire bookkeepers who do not have a Bachelors degree in accounting and some will ONLY hire CPA's to do the work. YOU just have to find out what the educational background that each employer wants. With only 1-2 years of basic accounting education....you just don't have the knowledge to be a bookkeeper for most businesses. Real accounting is MUCH harder than entry level accounting courses
