How Can i prepare For a job in the Video game Industry?

I need a job in the video game industry but its so competitive what do I do?

  • Video games have always been my passion but it seems almost impossibleto get employed in that industry I live in Dallas Tx so I'm not exactly in the best area for that compared to california or seattle I just want to be a tester in a work place I don't want to test games at home I want to get my foot in the door get some experience and be part of a team I don't know if age really matters when it comes to this but I'm 24 years old and I'm hoping that wouldn't matter to them the older I get because I think might prefer kids straight out of highschool because they know the next big thing and so on but I can be extremely beneficial to the industry and bring a lot to the tableif given the chance any kind of help or advice you can give me pertaining to this would be much appreciated thank you

Get a degree.

One thing you might consider doing is perfecting your skills and knowledge of the internet. For instance, you just posted a "video and online games" or "business and finance" question in the "Religion and Spirituality" section. Was that clever? My point is that you need to work on your analytical and observational skills before asking strangers to give you advice about how to attain your personal employment goals.

Just start applying for positions as a tester and honestly I believe that the average gamer is between 25-33-I think. Just do your best and give them reasons as to how you'll be a benefit to their company. Good luck

you fight to get into a place to work into making a video game with others.

What are the people looking for in new hires? You need a mentor who can give you some guidance in that regard. How do you find a mentor? Network! Network! Network! You will not know the person you need to talk to, but chances are one of your acquaintances knows someone who knows someone. Look around you for any leads. And, no matter what else they might be looking for, I can tell you the things that get results are showing that you don't give up, that you are focused and goal-oriented, and able to listen and adapt immediately to what you hear, no matter what it might be. Given a new hire with the best of intentions and a willingness to work as hard as needed to make it happen, I can shape that person to do anything. But to get there, you have to let them know how much you fit that pattern. How you do it is one of the creative tasks you need to solve, and if you are able to do that, you will get a job. If you can't, I recommend going back to Iowa and selling shoes. And whatever you do, DON'T tell anyone you asked this question in the religion section. That shows poor judgment. You generally won't find any competent answers here. I merely happen to be a retired vocational counselor.
