How to sedate my dog?

How can I sedate my dog?

  • My dog recently got a mouthful of porcupine quills and we have gotten most of them out but there is a few left and he won't stay still. The only way we will get them out is if we successfully sedate him. Please don't tell me to take him to the vet because clearly if we intended to take him to the vet we would've done it right away and not bothered to try and get them out on our own.

  • Answer:

Take him to a vet and let the vet get them out. He can give the poor dog an antibiotic in case of infection. There is nothing you can give him, there is no over the counter medicine. CRUEL HEARTLESS PEOPLE, don't give animals medical.

It would be dangerous to try and do something like that on your own, you don't have the technical training to know how much to give your dog without killing him. Take him to the vet.

you just have to hold him down. There really is no DIY sedation, it's just too dangerous. ---- from the dog point of view, he'll feel an instant of OUCH! followed by almost immediate relief; he can take it -- dogs are incredibly tough creatures -- and he'll respect you for it.
