What's the cheapest European country to travel to for the summer?

I'm 16 and hoping to travel to Canada this summer, what do I need to enter the country?

  • I'm 16 and wanting to travel to Vancouver in August. The only problem is I'm unsure on the documentation needed to enter Canada as an unaccompanied minor. I've heard that I need notarised consent from both parents and a guardian to vouch for me in Vancouver. The only problem is that I won't be staying with anyone, even though I'll be accompanied around the city by friends who live there, I'll be staying in a hotel by myself. Would really appreciate some advice if anyone can help me out.

  • Answer:

The very first thing......a valid UK passport. A return air ticket, in your name. A notarized letter of permission, from BOTH parents, stating that they are allowing you to fly to Canada, the dates of travel, the names of persons in Canada, who you will be traveling with, and contact phone numbers ( home and work ) for them both, so that the airline staff and UK border control can call them to verify the information. It would help if one of your parents comes with you to the UK airport. The same letter will be checked by the Canadian Border Security agent that talks to you at the air port in Canada, when you arrive. Once you have been cleared, you pick up your baggage and go out to the arrivals hall to meet your friends. Jim B Toronto.

You will need a passport and a letter (preferable notarized) from any parents you are not traveling with. This needs to include who you are staying with, your parents contact information, etc. If the letter doesn't include the name of an adult responsible for you, I wouldn't expect border services to allow you into the country. You can not rent a hotel room at 16 in Canada. You'll need to be 18 and have a credit card. Nor are hotels in Vancouver likely to allow a minor to stay alone even if an adult pays for it. Border services is definitely not going to accept this as someone being responsible for you. It also smacks of child trafficking. Stay at your friends house. If they are under 18, have their parents agree to look after you. Also, I would ensure that you have a return plane ticket, travel medical insurance, and a debt or prepaid credit card as proof of finances. A Canadian compatible cell phone would also be smart as would having various emergency numbers on it.

Just the notarized permission and passport.
