Is it rude to call in for a job interview?

• Hello I just applied to some jobs at a couple entry level jobs (pizza hut, macys, etc.) and I was wondering if it was rude to call the HR department for an interview. Usually at the end of applications they'll put down something like," We'll call you if you meet our requirements.." and such, except for Six Flags which specifically told me to call in to schedule an interview. I've searched around and a couple people said that I should call in, but is that frowned upon when applying to entry level/minimum wage jobs? Thank you.

  Most places are not going to interview you when you call in. You can call to check on the status of your application and to find out if the establishment is hiring - or better yet, stop by and ask to meet with the hiring manager (not the same as an interview - just an introduction and mention y9ou are really interested in working there). But if you ask for an interview, you are going to get "We'll call you if we are interested"
