Study kit for CCNA exam?

I would like to get my CCNA certification. I am doing my master's in CS, so I have some background Networking knowledge. Although I understand the conecpts, I have no experience working with routers/switches. I am trying to close this gap. I guess I will need a simulator (Cisco packet tracer, or some other?) and a study guide that has labs that use the simulator). I am primarily interested in the "do it yourself" approach, this is how I best learn. But it could be helpful to have an additional book for reference.
