I'm suffering from exactly the same thing today, it must be going around. When I got up this morning my right ear hurt, then the right side of my throat starting hurting, now it hurts when I swallow and now my right eye is starting to water. So in answer to your first question, yes, it is totally normal for earache and sore throats to go together. Normally this is the first part of a cold and they stop hurting when your nose starts to run. If the earache is carrying on for several days and not getting better you may have an infection which will need antibiotic eardrops to sort out, so you may be forced to go back to the doctor eventually. In the meantime, applying heat usually relieves the pain a bit. Those little pillows you heat up in the microwave are good. You could also try inhaling steam, to encourage the ear tubes to open up so that more gunge can run out. I have in the past been prescribed antihistamines for persistent earache as apparently these also help the eartubes to open up. So you could try taking those, but if you are already on migraine meds you'll need to check whether these already have a kind of antihistamine in.

Yes, it is common to have an earache with a sore throat because the cranial nerves to the ear and throat are connected and therefore, you may have referred pain. If the sore throat and earache still persists you might need to make a trip to your doctor to check for strep throat and/or an ear infection. Hope this helps.

Yes it's normal. There's a small tube connecting your throat to your ear. ENT stands for ear nose and throat. These are all connected and when one gets something generally the others do too. Try eating cold creamy stuff, like yoghurt.
