Ho·me·op·a·thy /ˌhoʊmiˈɒpəθi/ Show Spelled[hoh-mee-op-uh-thee] noun the method of treating disease by drugs, given in minute doses, that would produce in a healthy person symptoms similar to those of the disease Uhh... I'm not a Y!A DS "DVM" ... but doesn't the above description describe the practice of vaccination... as opposed to what alot of people on here seem to think "homeopathy" is? You know, herbs and elixers and incense an' shiz, etc.? Isn't traditional medicine "homeopathic"? and the all natural hippy-dippy stuff isn't "homeopathic" at all? And isn't it ironic, that the strongest, most scientifically credible argument the so-called "homeopathic" all natural medicine advocates have - is their argument against vaccinations? Against "homeopathy" itself?

Answer:
Homeopaths think that giving a substance that produces similar symptoms cure the condition, eg; coffee for insomnia. It is not about invoking an immune system response, it's about stimulating your "vital forces". This is nothing like vaccines - your body does not develop any resistance to any pathogen. "Minute doses" in most homeopathy actually means not one single molecule of active ingredient - some dilutions are as low as the equivalent of less than one molecule out of all the molecules in the entire universe. Homeopathy is not a traditional medicine, it's not herbal medicine either. In fact it's not medicine at all. It's bogus nonsense that has never been substantiated to work beyond placebo for any condition. Never.

Vaccination contain the virus itself, albeit attenuated. An homeopathic remedy does not contain anything traceable. its basically just water. So when vaccines have the potential to damage the body, homeopathy is essentially water carrying information. The body receives this information and reacts to it. How many adverse reaction from vaccination are reported? How many adverse reactions from homeopathic remedies reported?... Another difference is that a vaccine is introduced in the body via an abnormal pathway, inoculation. I understand your point by looking at it simply, but when looking in the details their differences then come to light...

Homoeopathy is just a placebo, vaccinations are not. Homeopathy is based on the idea of the "memory of water", a totally imaginary phenomenon with no place in modern medicine. Vaccination is where the host is provided with a weakened (attenuated) form of the disease or antigen from the disease causing organism, thus helping the body to prepare for when it faces the disease for real. Whilst vaccination does carry some mild risks, the risk of disease to un-vaccinated animals (or humans) is far worse, and as such vaccination is essential. @holywood thats the second time today I have seen you telling BS about vaccines, have you ever seen a dog with Parvo?
