Microsoft Word Help please?

Ok so I have installed Microsoft Word 2010 but I am unable to convert my old (2007) files back?! Please help!?

  • My computer recently broke down and all my files were lost. TThus,I had to install Microsoft Windows 2010 and thankfully, I was able to recover my lost documents but now, they just show up in symbols when I try to open the folder like for example: J|» ÿÆ'ÐBl›Dï̾® ÿUÇl0#÷0±D™l+dv•EÉ¢¯3=’Þ„ƒäã<ƒí”Ê¿„(])p…‡ u .ßXD˽á‚0ÚŸZہøÛ-™6œÂ¯Íºi"æWM…=9š§ Is there a way I can convert my folders back? Previously, I had been using Microsoft Word 2007..PLEASE HELP! ASAP!!!

  • Answer:

Your documents were not properly recovered. That is why they appear as gibberish. If you still have access to the damaged media, try recovering with another recovery program or take the media to a document recovery service. (that will be very expensive) If you have backups, now is the time to use them.

Looks like you didn't actually recover your documents. Whatever recovery program you used may have found info on the lost files so it thinks it's recovered them, but they have been overwritten, so what was recovered wasn't your files.

2010 and 2007 files are almost the same, not much difference that you will convert to. if you used an undelete program, chances are that the recovery was not successful.
