What are the husband's rights over property wife buys after marriage with her salary?

• My dear members, Greetings, and I wish you a good day :) I have a doubt. This is pertaining to Indian marriage laws, as I live in India. Now with the recent amendment to Hindu marriage act, the wife has equal rights on the property bought by husband after marriage. I am wondering if, the husband has the same. I mean: The wife is working, and with her salary she buys a house after marriage using her salary. So by the law, does the husband have equal ownership rights on that house? Or is this law one sided in favour of women, by which I mean, is it that only wife has joint rights on marital property without her financial contribution, but husband has no rights on property bought by wife without his financial contribution? What are the husband's rights over property wife buys after marriage with her salary? Please note, wife has equal rights even when she has not contributed financially to property bought by husband. So does husband have the same rights when he has not contributed to property bought by wife AFTER marriage? Thanks a ton. Take care!

  I would imagine, not knowing Indian or Hindu marriage laws, that the marriage creates some sort of community estate or equitable estate or both, where each spouse contributes to the household either through services or labor, cash or equivalent. So in effect property acquired with earnings means that the earnings of each spouse belongs to both spouses. However, that said, I do not know if there is equal treatment. Logic dictates that if you have an interest in property acquired after marriage, then it goes both ways. Best to consult a lawyer in your jurisdiction.
