Mucus dripping at the back of my throat?

Sore Throat! Strept or Allergies?

  • Yesterday i woke up with a really bad sore throat. But it was only on the right side, and when I swallowed it hurt in my ear. Also my throat is sore (on the outside), like to touch. My first thought would be strept, because I read somewhere that you tonsils send like signals to your ears. But I had my tonsils removed 5 years ago. On the other hand I don't know if it's just allergies. My allergies were pretty bad this weekend, so I'm thinking it may just be from mucus dripping down the back of my throat. Which one is it?

  • Answer:

I've had something that sounds like this a few times.. It's always turned out to be an ear infection. Have you had your ears looked at? My friend ENT physician has told her that in many cases there is no organic cause and it may also be allergies, a cold, post nasal drip, etc.

Ear infection. It happens to me all the time. Most likely an ear infection due to allergies. When that happened to me my ear hurt, I had chills, my stomach hurt, and throat hurt. But it shouldn't be strep and doesn't sound like it, just like an ear infection and allergies.
