How to separate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signal?

Apple TV won't play sound from AirPlay when my Mac and ATV are both on my 5ghz network?

  • So I have an Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router, a Mac, and an Apple TV. The Mac and the ATV can both connect to the 5ghz network just fine but when I try to use AirPlay from iTunes on my Mac to listen to music from my ATV, no sound comes out. The only time it does work is when I change either my Mac or my ATV to the 2.4ghz network. When they are both connected to the 5ghz network, AirPlay on the ATV won't play music. When I use AirPlay from iTunes to watch a tv show on my ATV while they are both connected to the 5ghz, everything works just fine. So the only problem is when I want to listen to music on my ATV using AirPlay and both my Mac and ATV are on my 5ghz network. Anyone have this problem or know a solution? The reason I want to use AirPlay is because I want to play music simultaneously with the speakers my ATV is connected to and also some speakers that I have an AirPort Express connected to.

  • Answer:
