What do I need to do to become a police officer in New Jersey?

What are the steps I need to take to become a police officer in Las Vegas NV?

  • I really want to become a police officer i have finished HS and i have my GED but i dont really know exactly what i need to do to pursue my dream??

  • Answer:

Visit the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department website. The employment section should answer most of your questions. You don't need college to get hired by the LVMPD, but having a degree could help you. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can. Get a college degree if you can. Maintain a good reputation. Keep a good driving record. Don't get bad credit. Improve all of your communication skills as much as possible. Practice to improve your observation and memory skills. Become as physically fit as you can. If you're going to take any tests for jobs or if you are going to be interviewed for jobs, make sure to prepare. Best of luck!

i suggest go to the academy. and graduate from that so that when you apply they can see a very intersted person that wants to pursue the law enforment agency. also have a clean record and have in mind that your gonna start from the bottom not from the top. for example corrections officer, loss prevention, security things like that will benefit you in the future when you apply also if you have college credits. that also helps alot but remember not just anyone can become a PO there steps to get to the top and its not like in the movies or t.v. mostly is writting reports and going to silly police reports. if you feel you have the talent and ready for a big challenge. go for it! the key to succed is to NOT GIVE UP! hope this helps. have a good one

1. Check out the schedule of seminars from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department website. These seminars help them gauge if there are interested applicants in the force. These seminars also provide you with information on the requirements, training schedule, benefits to help you decide if you want to apply and give it a shot. 2. Review the the study guide, usually available in the LVMPD website to help you prepare for the exams. 3. Complete all the tests which includes a written, oral board and physical test. 4. You'll need to go through a background check where all your records will be scrutinized - criminal, driving, finance, and previous work. An investigator will call your relatives and/or your co-workers. You'll also need to go through a polygraph test to verify if all the information written in your application form is correct. 5. You'll await approval from the selection committee to see if you've made the cut or not. If you do, you'll then go through further training in the las vegas police academy.
