Does anyone suffer from a constant sore throat?

Can Apple cider vinegar damage my throat?

  • ok.. about 6 months ago, I had a fish bone stuck in my throat so I tried everything to get rid of it.. eat bread, rice, crackers, water, lemon juice... everything and nothing worked so I checked online and someone said to gargle with apple cider vinegar... well I did and it BURNED SO BAD!! i will never do that again! but stupid me I didnt think you were suppose to dilute it... grrr... anyways it hurt so bad I couldnt breath, I was literally gasping for air and I coughed once and was able to breath. It scared me sooo much! from now on Im going to do more research on things! or better yet go to the doc. Anyways, at the same time I had mycoplasma (soounds like that, I cant remember what it was called) bacteria in my lungs for a while I was even breaking out in hives from it so I was given antibiotics which got rid of the hives. Also, I am not a drinker, smoker or anything like that, I try to eat pretty healthy, but my liver enzymes are up and Im getting an ultrasound done on friday. But for the longest time now, my throat feels swollen (at base of throat and goes up my neck on the right side), Ive had this dry little cough that comes and goes, and I sometimes have trouble getting enough air (not gasping for air but I constantly have to take in a deep breath) and Ive had all these symptoms for months now. I tell the doc but he wants to check my liver first... while I suffer this whole time. But now I wonder... maybe my throat problem happened because I garled with Braggs apple cider vinegar (straight) and swollowed it, causing damage? or is it because maybe I have had a throat infection, bacteria or virus for months? I dont know and its scaring me sooo much, does anyone know if it could have been caused by the apple cider vinegar? Im desperate and my doc doesnt want to do anything for at least 2 weeks because he wants results for my liver. HELP!!

  • Answer:

Apple cider, as well as any vinegar or citrus based liquid can cause ulcers in some people. When you next see your doc, or speak to him on the phone, you should tell him or her about this incident. If you already have ulcers, it could have made matters worse. It may well have burned your oesophagus. You need your doctor to be in full possession of all the facts.

Its weird because my mom believes apple cider vinegar can cure just about anything except for my sister because she has acid reflux which is a horrible mate with acids

You gotta get surgery where they put a long pincher thing in your throat to get it out...

Some alternative health care practitioners claim that apple cider vinegar helps with weight loss, regulates blood pressure and relieves arthritis pain. However, there's no clinical evidence to support these claims. Like any type of vinegar, apple cider vinegar is highly acidic. Consuming apple cider vinegar may cause indigestion or nausea, worsen heartburn or aggravate stomach ulcers. Excessive doses of apple cider vinegar have been found to cause damage to skin and throat. To prevent this, always dilute the vinegar with water before drinking or applying to the skin. Try to take liquid vinegar instead of pills. If you do take pills, take them with plenty of water.
