What channel is MYX?

What is the differece between dual channel memory and quad channel memory?

  • So what is the difference between single channel, dual channel, triple channel and quad channel? can i put 4 single channel memory in a motherboard or 2 dual channel or one triple channel and one single channel. im building a gaming pc. thanks in advance :)

  • Answer:

It all dependends on your motherboard and what it supports, most midrange motherboards (not "extreme" editions) have 4 ram slots supporting 2 dual channel or quad channel and 1 or 3 sticks of ram will work but you loose the dual and quad speed... I would recomend using 2 sticks over 3 any day in a 4 slot motherboard. so 4>2>3>1 For a gaming pc id recomend getting 4 sticks of 2gig 1333 (only high end mobo support any high speeds anyway, dont waste your money) if you want more (or want the ability to have more then get 2 sticks of 4 gig so you can add another 2 sticks later if you want
