Can my employer use lie detector or not? what about the law?

Why don't they just use the lie detector in crime?

  • Why don't they just use a lie detector right away to know if a person really did a crime or to prove that he is guilty instead of having court sessions blabla?

  • Answer:

    THey aren't totally reliable and the results aren't admissible in court. If the results aren't admissible they don't want to taint any other evidence.

Because lie detector tests are worthless. I've taken several - never been honest when taking one and I've never failed one. If you believe you can trick the machine, then you can.

Because polygraph exams are far from perfect. There are lots of known issues with them and the results cannot be considered evidence in a trial.

Well I have never taken a lie detector test before but I'm sure I'd fail even if telling the truth. I have a guilty conscience. I feel like I did everything. I cannot make eye contact while being questioned. No matter what it's about. I believe the lie detector detects nervousness or something like that so it wouldn't be 100% accurate and fair.

Because you have people like me who can cheat at them. Its not hard and it's not a required test you have to give approval of it. I can make one think I'm lying when I tell the truth and all I do is control my heart rate. I can make it beet so fast it's not worth trying to give me the test.

Because so-called "Lie detectors", technically called Polygraphs, are voodoo science of no probative value whatsoever. Their "accuracy" is little better than a coin toss. Richard
