Why does it stain when you sweat?

Why does my sweat only stain clothes when I am sick?

  • It only happens when I have a fever. It turned my favourite shirt yellow and appears to have bleached my pillowcase this time from a light green to an orange/yellow. Why does this happen? My boyfriends sweating never discolours anything so this has him completely confused. Help?

  • Answer:

Because when you're sick you are less likely to bathe or put on deoderant. And you sweat more when you have a fever because the body is trying to lower its body temperature. Sweat contains amounts of urea which is also found in urine. It is the urea that is staining and bleaching your clothes and pillowcases. You may need to cut back on your protein intake.

Maybe because you excessively sweat when you are sick and running a fever.

My sweat has always stained my clothes. Over time sweating on the same thing makes it worse.
