Can a Medical Technologist work in Forensic Science?

• I read that A Medical Technologist can work in forensic science but how is the job market for that field? Would it be best to work as a MT and later become a CLS or is it more options in Forensic Science. Pay wise are they pretty much about the same or one has a little more room to grow? I know its alot of questions but I really don't want to make the mistake of getting a degree that will not help support my family. I'm in school right now and I'm trying to decide what major to choose. Both of them are great options but I need a little more information to make my choice. I have done research but research is not like hearing it from someone that actually do it day to day.

  A Medical technologist (not a med technician) is a CLS-CLS (clinical lab scientist) is the new term; to work in a forensics lab you need at least a bachelors (and many have a masters in criminalistics or forensic science-they are the same just a newer term); the bachelors you get in CLS can either be a reg bachelors plus a one year training program in the lac ( 4+1) or a combined. It is well suited to the crime lab as well as many of the techniques rae the same-the Instruments, specimen handling, fluids etc. If you do it that way you have the option of the clinical lab, reference lab, crime lab, industrial lab etc. If you just do a plain bachelors in bio chem (or forensics but not many of those around) you are much more limited to just a crime lab. So the MT/CLS is actually paid better until you become an expert in one field with a masters or more, they also have more opportunities. And it is NOT like TV at all.
