How To Grow Long Hair?

How long will it take my hair to grow out to reach my goal? (Pics included)?

  • I have a bad cowlick as you can see in the picture and I have always had really short hair my whole life because when I grow it out it looks bad. However, reading about it more, it would actually hide my cowlick more if I styled my hair to go with the cowlick. I spent hours looking online for pictures of medium/short hair this is what I came up with, so how long will it take for me to grow my hair out (short buzz as seen in first pic) My hair currently: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/694/mailgooglecomta.jpg/ Goal length/style: http://www3.images.coolspotters.com/photos/135685/matt-bellamy-profile.jpg As you can see in the picture it looks like his hair is thinner on the right side but the bangs cover it up which is what I want to do, hide my collick. Does it look like it will be possible with my hair type? And approx how long will it take to grow out assuming my hair grows at about (1/2) inch per month?

    I like your hair now better than the other pic... but i think it should take at least 4-6 months... Depends on you. Generally hair grows an inch or two a month.

His hair is around 2.5" long maximum so around four to five months from the present length. The issue is that if a guy just lets his hair grow to that length, it will look so bad in the interim that he will end up buzzing it all off. Strongly suggest getting slightly longer haircuts that fully suit and then once arriving at a regular layer/taper cut with round 2.5" on top, starting to let the sides grow over the ears and the back over the collar. So, assuming an average rate of hair growth of around 1/8" per week and a haircut every three weeks: short crew cut; medium crew cut; short ivy league; ivy league; long ivy league; short regular layer/taper cut; regular layer taper cut. At this point, start to let the hair grow over the ears and collar getting it shaped every six weeks till arriving at that style.
