How can I concentrate on reading?

Why can't I concentrate while reading?

  • When I read I have thoughts constantly flying through my mind that I have no control over. I don't really know how to describe this but I can't process anything that I read and after reading about a paragraph without paying attention I will realize that I have no idea what I just read. It's not that I'm stupid or anything I just can't concentrate. I have been trying to study for my AP World History test coming up in three days but when I read the review book I think about a million things except the material. There are questions after each chapter of reading and I usually only get about 2 out of 8 correct. How can I focus on what I read?

  • Answer:

Sounds to me like you just aren't into what it is you're reading.

I'm the same way. I don't really know why, but maybe you get distracted or have too many things on your mind. Try to set your mind to that book or paragraph or whatever youf reading and try to not think about anything else. Maybe you need to read in a quiet place alone so you can really set your mind to it. Hope this helps.

You might have Dyslexia if you can't read it, ADHD if you can't sit long enough to read it, or you might just have a ton of stuff in your mind. Clear your mind, then try again. And don't get DISTRACTED! (i.e. Yahoo Answers!)
