    This question is asked all the time,LCD & LED are the same thing except LED uses a different backlight.LCD uses ccfl to provide light to tv screen & LED uses LED lights which are more energy efficient and brighter while using less energy.There are a few types of LED_1=Edge lit leds around edge tends to let tv be real thin but also prone to line bleed,thats why most common now is #2 Full array backlight,which lights the whole back of tv controlled by special algorithms that provide more balanced light source & an even light distribution.The best new LEDs are microdimming full backlit.I could explain for ever,read lcd/led reviews.com and that will further explain the technology differences.Its basically a difference in how the Tv produces light but also higher end sets usually have more features better panel tech and generally better PQ,not just because its LED.Hope I didnt confuse you.Its more complicated than saying the only difference is backlighting,it does go further than that.Read online and see what I mean.

Both have exactly the same screen (LCD). The difference is that on older or cheaper sets generally called "LCD," the backlight is a fluorescent lamp. On "LED" sets, the backlight is an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The LCD panel forms the picture, but it doesn't radiate any light on its own. It's illuminated from behind by the backlight.

Both LED tv's and CCFL tv's are lcd displays. Led tv's are thinner and better than CCFL tv's.
